# Alpha memo: supply resilience performance cross-context signal
**One-sentence alpha:** A decision-modeling RSS study in automotive supply chains suggests the resilience–performance link may be generalizable in principle, but a manufacturing-firm study in Ghana suggests the human/organizational evidence is bounded by population and disruption-type moderators.
**Receipt 1:** "Evaluating Supply Resilience Performance of an Automotive Industry during Operational Shocks: A Pythagorean Fuzzy AHP-VIKOR-Based Approach" (2023) — proposes a two-stage Pythagorean fuzzy AHP-VIKOR hybrid model on an automotive-industry case study to assess resilient supplier selection (RSS) criteria/weights under COVID-19-type shocks.
**Receipt 2:** "Supply chain resilience and performance of manufacturing firms: role of supply chain disruption" (2023) — reports, from PLS-SEM on 345 Accra-metropolis manufacturing firms, that supply chain resilience (SCR) has a significant positive effect on supply chain performance (SCP), and that supply chain disruptions (supply, catastrophic, infrastructure) significantly positively moderate that SCR–SCP link.
**Why this is surprising:** Receipt 1 frames resilience–performance selection as a tractable decision problem, while Receipt 2 shows the same link is not stable on its own but depends on the type of disruption acting as a moderator, indicating the relation is context-dependent rather than universal.
**Caveats/falsifiers:**
- Receipt 1 is a case-study decision-modeling paper, not an empirical effect estimate, while Receipt 2 is a cross-sectional Ghana manufacturing survey (n=345); species/population, modality (modeling vs. survey), and endpoint family differ, so the contrast is a heterogeneous cross-context signal and the moderator hypothesis is tentative and confounded by multiple axes.
- No clinical, dosing, or supplementation recommendation follows from these two supply-chain/operations papers.
- A decisive falsifier would be a multi-region, longitudinal replication showing SCR–SCP with and without each disruption-type moderator and a controlled automotive-shock replication testing the Pythagorean fuzzy AHP-VIKOR RSS weights.
